CHALLENGES
A restriction in the pressure supplied by the town’s main water supply meant that the building’s fire hydrant pump no longer met the required standards. As a result, a larger pump set was required at this site in order to achieve the designed flow rates out of the hydrant system.
SOLUTION
Based on information about current pressures and flow, we selected the right size of pump from BKB Pumping Solutions but because the pump plinth was too small, it had to be extended.
Not only that but due to the size of the room, the pump set had to be disassembled first and then reassembled. In the end a test run confirmed the pump’s functionality and a flow test verified the water supply achieved the desired flow rates.
RESULTS
A 100% compliant hydrant system was installed as requested by the client who were quite pleased by the resourcefulness shown by our team to complete the project. The pumps will be serviced by Advance Fire under warranty for the next 12 months to ensure their reliability.
